HAWAI’I VOLCANOES

We visited Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park during the summer of 2019 on a trip that included visits to Big Island, Maui, and Kauai. After a long day of travel and and incredible amount of jet lag, we made it to the Big Island with only a day to explore the majesty and splendor of Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. That being said, we definitely made the most of our time. Even though large portions of the park were closed due to the 2018 eruptions, there was still so much to do and see. From our early morning exploration of the Sulfur Banks Trail to our trek along the Kilauea Iki Trail to our final stops along the Chain of Craters Road, Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park was an incredible introduction to the islands of Hawai’i and it’s volcanic history.

Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park is on the traditional and stolen land of the Ko Hawai’i Pae’aina people.
