GATEWAY ARCH

The smallest of the big 63 National Parks, Gateway Arch looms over the Mississippi River and the city of St. Louis as a testament to the expansion of the nation westward. While this park is devoid of traditional trails, you can wander the grounds and enjoy not only the arch, but the Old Courthouse where the Dredd Scott case was held. Journey below the grounds of the park to explore the Gateway Arch Museum, allowing for better insight into the park, the history surrounding it, and the far reaching impact and implications of the Louisiana Purchase on St. Louis and the nation as a whole.

During our 2021 summer road trip, we had the opportunity to explore Gateway Arch National Park. Along with taking in the grounds and the museum, we also toured the Mississippi by boat and took a daring and cramped ride to the top of the Arch.

Gateway Arch National Park is on the traditional and stolen land of the Kickapoo, Kaskaskia, Osage, Myaamia, O-ga-xpa, and Ochethi Sakowin people.
