CUYAHOGA VALLEY
One of the most surprising things about Cuyahoga Valley National Park was how lush it was. This incredibly green park was not only steeped in gorgeous landscape but a great deal of history as a sizable portion of the Eerie and Ohio Canal System is contained within it. This gave us great pause throughout the park as the signage and historical explanation is incredibly well done. The park is also home to a good portion of the Buckeye Trail, a 1,444 mile hike which loops you around the state of Ohio, showcasing it’s different landscapes and natural beauty.
Our trip to Cuyahoga was special for a variety of reasons. Not only were we able to hike a good deal of the Buckeye Trail and see great swaths of the park because of it, but we were also able to hike with our good friend Leah. This was the first park trip where the two of us had a hiking buddy along for the ride and it made the adventure all the more special. From learning more of the history of the park, to hiking the Tow Path when we needed a bit of a rest, to ogling handsome shirtless runners in the rain, Cuyahoga did us right.
Cuyahoga Valley National Park is on the traditional and stolen land of the Kaskaskia and Erie people.
